Goonies Never Say Die... in Astoria, Oregon

I was in love with Astoria before I got there, and I left in the same state. :)

Before you walk up the hill to get to the Goonies house...

Looking up at the house from the bottom of the hill..

Changing movies on you for a minute.. this school was in another movie.. from the early 90s.. with Arnold Schwartzanager,.

Here is your hint...

You guessed it.. Kindergarten Cop! :)

I went next up to the Astoria Column at the top point of Astoria.

I decided not to climb up stairs of the column, because as a claustrophobe there is nothing I would like to do less! But the views from the bottom were amazing!

The Astoria Bridge to Washington State...

Moving on.. I drove over to the Oregon Film Museum, which before it became a museum, was a jail, and was THE Jail that the Fratelli's broke out of in the Goonies!

This was one of the cells actually used in the movie, with Data's awesome coat.

Half of the fun of being in Astoria was seeing all of the Victorian Homes.
Here are some of my favorite houses throughout Astoria.....

But of course the best one......

The Flavel House!!

This house is actually directly next to the Jail/Oregon Film Museum. It was also used as the Museum where Mr. Walsh worked, in the Goonies.

I bought the house tour ticket because there are few things I love more than old, turn of the century home. While I can appreciate the antique items inside of them, I am mostly in love with the houses themselves.

The woodwork, the carvings, the intricate details..... and as you will soon see-
The staircases are my FAVORITE parts! :)

This stained glass was over the main door and was so gorgeous!!!

Having fun with their hallway mirror....

The main staircase up to the second floor.

This was the toilet in the bathroom underneath the stairs, next to the side door entrance.
I LOVED the woodwork!!

The servants staircase

Going up the main staircase

Once on the second floor, these were the stairs to the attic.
I was soooo sad not to be allowed to go up. These were my favorite ones.

Upstairs bathroom!

This tub is amazing!!

I just loved the age of this floor, and the scrape marks from the chair.

Not sure what of these items from Mr. Flavel's closet were authentic, but it looked great!

Thought about heading back down the main staircase...

But took the servants staircase instead.

The kitchen was amazing!!

The stove was the best part!

I could imagine them sitting outside on the porch... it was such a lovely porch...

The old carriage house, which they have now turned into a gift shop, and where you buy your House tour tickets, for $5!

And that's the end of my time in Astoria!! It was definitely one of my favorite parts of the trip!
