Day trip to San Juan Island! (August 2013)

So I heard about this great state park, Lime Kiln State Park, where you are supposed to be able to see whales from the coast (apparently though this is only some times.) My neighbor and I made this our last adventure..to get there you drive up I-5 to Anacortes, and you take the ferry out to San Juan Island. This one is expensive (about $50 for the car and the driver) and another $12 per additional passenger. We chose to do just a day trip, but next time I go, or if making recommendations for others, I think making a weekend out of it would be best. Next time I hope to go kayaking as well!!
